About this workshop

This one-day, in-person workshop is designed for stylists looking to understand what commercial styling actually involves — from the brief to the shoot day, and everything in between.

Taking place at our London Bridge studio, the day covers the practical reality of working in commercials: how briefs work, how to source and pull for a shoot, working with a commercial director and creative team, managing budgets, and presenting yourself as a stylist in this sector.

Whether you're coming from fashion, theatre, or personal styling — or you're just starting out — this is a practical, honest look at what the job requires.

What you’ll cover

01 Understanding the commercial brief

How to read a brief, ask the right questions, and translate a director's vision into a wardrobe plan.

02 Sourcing

Building knowledge of retailers and PR’s, how to shop efficiently, when to hire vs buy and when to customise.

03 Budgets & returns

Managing a commercial styling budget, keeping track of what's been pulled, and handling the returns process properly.

04 Working on set

Your role on the shoot day — working with the director, camera department, and talent. What's expected of you and how to handle it.

05 Getting work in commercials

How the industry hires stylists for commercials, what a commercial portfolio looks like, and how to get your foot in the door.

06 Rates & negotiation

Day rates in commercials, negotiating fees, understanding invoicing, and knowing your worth as a freelancer.
